Jordan Begg

Hi, I'm Jordan, one of the tutors for this year's salsa beginners class. Salsa instantly became a passion of mine from the first class I went to about four years ago. It's fast, exciting, and most of all, fun!

I have found it to be a real life-changing activity due to all the great people that I've met, the dances we’ve shared and the festivals that we have attended together. I hope I can do my part in growing the salsa community and encouraging more people to enjoy all the good stuff that salsa brings!

What to expect from the classes (wasn't too sure what to write so just let me know if this is too much): In these classes, we will be focussing on the fundamentals of salsa, starting from square 1. So whether you're an absolute beginner and want to discover a dynamic and exciting dance style, or have been dancing salsa for a little while but want to work on your technique and learn new moves, this class is for you! Over the course of the semester, you'll learn everything you need to know to do more complicated patterns and to be able to enjoy salsa parties here and around the world!

No partner? No problem! We will be partnering up and swapping partners throughout each class. You are very welcome to not change partners as well if you prefer. No specialised clothing is required, just wear comfortable clothing and you'll be fine. You may want to buy dance shoes at some point but they are certainly not required. See you in class!
